NOW 617 CONSUMERS The electrical report presented to the Borough Council's January meeting by the Electrical Inspector, Mr J.M. Sherwood, stated that a further 116 service connections had been made, the total number of consumers now being 617. Since the new generator was switched in at 6.15 p.m. on December 22, after completion of the necessary tests, it had supplied the total load on the system.
A high tension line had been constructed during the past month from Runanga Street across the Waikato River to Woodward's Mill and a transformer erected and "livened up" there. Transformers in the following situatlons had also been "livened up": — Hilltop Road, Tamatea Avenue, Tuck's Mill, A.C. Baths, Spa Hotel.
A section of low tension dlstribution line behind Tongariro Street had been re-routed to be clear of the new Lake Hotel. Mercury vapour street lights had been erected in Tongariro Street and along the Lake Front Road and iestoons erected in Tongariro Street.
Service lines had been completed at the Ministry of Works block, and in various parts of the Borough as applications have been made. The erection of low tension distribution lines in Koha, Hinemoa and Hinekura Streets is now proceeding. The Acting Town Clerk, Mr Milton, reported that collections in connection with the sale of power during December and January j totalled £2269/5/9 which, with a further £687/1/- still outstanding, made a total of £2956/6/9.
