ISLAND CHIEFS TO VISIT TAUPO

A letter received by the Mayor, Mr J. E. Story, from the Secretary j Department of Island Territories, Wellington, advises that a representative party from the New Zealand Island Territories is to pass through Taupo about Monday, |j Deeember 21st. At the time of going to press the Mayor had not been advised as to H details of the visit, but it is understood that it will be short. It is hoped, however, if time allows, to arrange some form of official welcome. The party has been invited to New Zealand by the Government to take part in some of the functions arranged for the Royal Visit. The party will comprise some 17 chiefs and leading personages from Western Samoa, Cook Islands, Nuie IsJ (land and Tokelau Islands.
