FATHER OF MAORI V.C. DEAD
MR HAMUERA NGARIMU Mr Hamuera Ngarimu, father of the Second World War Maori V.C. winner, Lieut. Moananui-A-Kiwa Ngarimu, died in Gisborne on November 30th after a short illness, aged 57. He was one of the leaders of the Ngatiporou tribe in the Waiapu Valley, and chairman of the Ngatiporou Co-op. Dairy Company and other Maori organisations. Educated at Te Aute College, he was one of the^hrst Maori students at the Hawkesbury Agricultural College, New South Wales. He is s-urvived by his widow, three sons and eight daughters.
