CYCLES ON FOOTPATHS

Sir, — I must register a strong protest at the way Taupo children cycle up and down Borough footpaths. It must lead to a serious accident to young children if not stopped. I have on many occasions had to clear a passage for mothers with prams and young children through cycles strewn across * the footpath while their owners were in shopping and I have repeatedly witnessed "near miss" collisions of cycles and young toddlers. It is the duty of all parents not to allow their children the use of the family "bike" until they have instructed them on how and where to ride. I am speaking from a parent's point of view. In most cases the blame is on the parents not the children. I am, etc., , A H_ RETD
