WANDERERS WIN MOLESWORTH SHIELD

The Unlted Wanderers Club constituted from members of Tuck's and Taupo Sawmills travelled to Tarawera last week-end and brought back the Molesworth Shield, presented in 1951 by Mr Charlie Molesworth for competition between teams from Tuck Bros. yards at Napier, Morrinsville, Tarawera and Taupo, and held hitherto by the Tarawera Mill. The Wanderers success by an innings and 27 runs was largely due to a splendid century by Rex Mclsaac, who has been scoring well in Taupo Cricket this year, and to excellent bowling by Jack Dance and Owen Delaney, who took five wickets each in the first innings, and by Jack Courtenay with 7 wickets for 16 runs in the second innings. The return game is to be played at Taupo on December 6th. Next Sundey the Taupo Club is travelling to Ngakura. Other fixtures so far arranged before Christ mas are against Rotorua R.S.A., and Kaingaroa, Minginui Cricket Club are also possible opponents and it is hoped that the Golf Club will be able to add a pre-Christmas fixture to the programme as well as the usual game in January or February.
