DRAMA SCHOOL HELD
LECTURES AND PLAYS A successful School of Instruction on play production and stage make-up, arranged by the Taupo Dramatic Society, was held over the last week-end. Mrs Freda Wilson, of Waipawa, Drama Council lecturer and instructor, conducted the course, which commenced on the Friday night at the Taupo school with a talk oii production, followed by an audition, and the choosing of a cast for a one act play, ''The Followers." Saturday morning saw the cast go into rehearsal, together with the casts for the play "Fluffy," read at the So- j ciety's previous reading, and that for 'the play "The Old Lady Shows Her Medals," produced in August last.
Mrs Wilson gave demonstrations on stage make-up on Saturday afternoon, and a further lecture on play production that evening. The rehearsals were continued on Sunday, and in the evening all three plays were presented at Rickit's Hall to a large and appreciative audience of Society members. Mrs Wilson constructively criticised plays and players following each performance, and much useful instruction was gleaned from her remarks. The Society's Committee hopes to arrange further similar courses during the coming season.
