CANDIDATES FOR COUNCIL
With nominations not due to close until noon on Friday next, October 9th, it is understood that a number of new candidates are likely to be nominated for seats on the first Taupo Borough Council. At the time of going to press, however, no nominations had actually been lodged with the Returning Officer. Of the present members of the Town Board, the Chairman, Mr J. E. Story, as already announced, will be a candidate for the Mayoralty, while the following will be standing for the Council: Miss K. O. Lewis, Mr W. G. Morris, Col. J, D. Swan, Mr C. Vedder, and Mr K. E. Young. The new Council is tO lhave eight members.
