BLOOD TRANSFUSION SERVICE
The Waikato Hospital Board's mobile unit visited Taupo on Wednesday September 16th when thir-ty-six blood donors attended at the Taupo Hospital to give blood, this being the first time the blpod transfusion service had operated in Taupo. Dr M. G. Somerville, Waikato Hospital, and Mr George, Rotorua Hospital, were with the unit. The work proceeded smoothly, the time taken per donor averaging about eight to ten minutes. Refreshments were provided, and the Taupo Committee wish to thank all St. John Ambulance members and others who assisted, and also Miss Beaufort, Hospital matron, for her kind co-operation. The Mobile Unit is expected to visit Taupo again during the first week in December. There are at present about forty donors in Taupo but seventy are desired, and the Taupo Committee hope to secure another thirty volunteers. Those wishing to give this valuable service are requested to send in their names as soon as possible to Mr A. Kennedy, P.O. Box 171, Taupo. The punctuality with which volunteers arrived at the Hospital at "the times allotted to each group was a great help in the smooth operation of the service.
