GOLF AT TAUPO

The ladies played a medal round on the Taupo Golf Club course on Thursday, September 24th, the best scores being Mrs Collett 103-27-76, Mrs Cheal 106-28-78, and Mrs Douglas 99-19-80. In the first round of the Championship Mrs Douglas defeated Mrs Young 7 and 6, and Miss Branson defeated Miss McKelvie 6 and 5. On Sunday last the men played a fourball best ball Stableford, the best cards returned being E. Pearse and N. George 43, and D. Neame j and E. Drummond also 43, the former pair winning on the count back. Other cards were E. Darlington and G. Fraser, 42; J. Hurrell and E. Smith, 42; S. Neame and F. Kendall, 40; Col. Robinson and E. Irving 39; T. Price and N. Kerr, 38; H. Hullten and F. Sherning, 37; A. Graham and E. Ryan, 37; E. Stretton and E. R. Sinclair, 37.

In the semi-finals of the Men's Senior Championship, L. Cheal defeated K. Rameka two and one, and Cheal will thus play in the final against the winner of the semi-final game to be played between K. Young and L. Stephenj son. In the semi-finals of the men's Junior Championship, E. Ryan defeated H. Hullten two and one, and E. Pearse defeated N. Kerr at the 19th. In the Men's Winter Cup, L. Cheal and J. Miles defeated J. Woodward and T. Irvine.
