This picture of the Lake Hotel, Taupo, goes back to the days when coaches were the only means of transport for visitors. The set of steps standing under one of the trees was for the use of passengers boarding the coaches. As reported elsewhere in this issue work has begun on a modern hotel to be erected on the same site, the old hotel having been destroyed by fire some time ago. The photograph was supplied by Mrs W. Power, of Auckland.
