BASKETBALL NOTES
On Saturday last games were of good standard and some promising players were seen at their best. In the Primary v. High School game the latter were held to a close margin, winning 11 — 9 by good combination playing and goaling. The game was fast with good passing on both sides. S. Booth, Primary forward, shows promise as an improved player. K. Reid and C. Pitiroi (P) and M. Hurst and S. George (S) proved sound. Huka defeated Crusaders 13 — 7. Both teams were disappointing in the first half but M. Sinclair and B. Bramley, Crusader forwards, rallied their play in the second half to extend the Huka defence players N. Chase, L. Orolowski and E. Pitiroi. All centre players were evenly matched and good interceptions made the game interesting. The draw for tomorrow, Saturday 5th, is Primary v. Crusaders, 1.30 p.m., an*d Huka v. High School 2.30 p.m. Players are urged to be punctual. The raffie for bag of sugar has been postponed and will be drawn on September 12th.
