This picture, from a photograph kindly supplied by Mrs W. Power, depicts arr evening scene once familiar at the Waikato Outlet, Taupo. The willow tree framing the picture on the right grew some yards upstream from the present wharf, the little point on which it grew having long since been washed away. Till thirty years ago canoes were commonly used for trolling for trout, but it is unlikely that there is a single canoe afloat on Taupo waters today.
