SECONDARY SCHOOL MATCHES
TAUPO v. RAURIMU For the first time in the history of the Post-primary Department of the Taupo Distriet High School visiting teams are shortly to be seen in action in Taupo. Basketball and football teams from Raurimu High School are to meet Taupo School teams, at Taupo, at nine and ten a.m. respectively on Friday, August 14. The visitors will arrive at midday on Thursday, 13th, and the Taupo School authorities will welcome enquiries from Taupo residents who are willing to billet either a boy or girl on the night of Thursday, 13th. An appeal is made to all parents of children attending the Taupo School, and to friends of the school, to attend these matches, and thus show their interest in their own children's school and also help to make the visit memorable for the visiting teams. A lunch will be served at the school for both the visiting and home teams, on Friday, August 14, before the visitors depart at 1.30 p.m. Taupo v. Putaruru On Wednesday, August 19, the Taupo teams are to travel to Putaruru to play the Post-primary School there, and this will close the interschool winter season's sport. These games are proving a boon to the pupils of the school, especially the boys, who have no other organised games during the season. Next year may possibly see the birth of a third grade competition in Taupo, with a maximum weight of 11 stone 7 lbs., comprising a school team and teams made up from ex-pupils and younger residents of the distriet.
