BUSINESSMEN'S MEETING

ADVERTISING SLOGAN WANTED The monthly committee meeting of the Taupo Busmessmen's Association was held on Monday, July 20, at the residence of Mr E. T. Smith. A letter received from the Postmaster-General in reply to a complaint from the Association as to the lack of decorations at the Post Office at the time of the Coronation, stated that it was not the policy of the Department to decorate smaller offices. Although Taupo was not on the route of the Royal tour, fthe post Office would, however, be decorated for that occasion. A deputation was appointed to wait on the Town Board in regard to parking, pedestrian crossings, community lighting, by-laws and sewerage. Slogan Competition It was decided to ofFer a prize of one guinea for a slogan which might prove suitable for adoption by the Town. When a suitable slogan is adopted it is the intention that members of the business community will play their part by using the slogan on their statoinery and it will be available for use on other types of publicity for Taupo. It is the wish of the organisers to find a slogan which adequately portrays in a maximum of five words, the all round value of Taupo as a tourist resort, and it is not intended that it should emphasise one particular factor only, such as fishing. Details of the competition will be found in advertising columns.
