La Serva Padrona The Bay of Plenty Times reports that the C.A.S. miniature comic opera uLa Serva Padrona" was produced in the Town Hall, Tauranga on Monday night, July 20. The reviewer states: "Mary Langford, as the maid who tricked her master into marriage, sang like a lark. She was alternately shrewish and appealing, and her whole performance sparkled. Donald Munro, the master, was the perfect foil for her, while his voice more than satisfied the expectations of his reputation. Roderick Horn, the valet, spoke with his actions and raised^a laugh at every entrance. The co-ordination of voice, movement and instruments was outstanding. I did not hear one adverse comment. After the show I heard people whistling the themes as they walked down the street. To Margaret Simmons, who produced the work and Layton Ring*; who directed the music, I doff my hat." The production will be presented in Rickit^ Hall, Taupo, on Thursday night, August 6. Taupo Rowing Club Mr J.
