BASKETBALL NEWS

The -first game on Saturday, Crusaders v. High School was very slow in the first half. When the second half began, players appeared determined to set a quicker pace making the game more interesting to spectators and players alike. Morna Hurst did « remarkably well in The second half by intercepting continually. High School's potting was very good, and they won 11 — 5. Play was spasmodic in the first half of the game between Tokaanu and Huka, although various players did their utmost to raise the scores. The scoring was very slow and at half time each side ,had scored only 4 goals. Huka's defence played a good hard game, but insisted on the third pass despite the fact that their

centres were in position. Quick passing between W. Sorenson and B. Walters helped R. Jenkins to improve her scoring and the match finished with Huka the winners by 10 — 7. The draw for Saturday next is 1.30 p.m., Crusaders v. Huka; 2.30 p.m., Crusaders v. High School.
