TAUPO DRAMATIC SOCIETY

MEMBER'S EYENING Two more ireadings, both comedies. jwere presented at the fortnightly I member's evening of th,e Taupo Dramatic Society last Wednesdayj The first, "Acid Drops" by Gertrude 'Jennings, was produced by Denise ; Baker. The stetting was in a workhouse ward for women in v/hich Katb ;,Reid played a rather lively thougk bedridden part as M.rs Gilbert awaiting her 101st. birthday. ! The> institutional friction amongsf the slightly more mobile imnates of the workhouse was portrayed by Grace Booth as Mrs Taylcir, Diane Young as Mrs Dent, Eileen Gale as Alice, and Denise Baker as Mrs Price, whilst Iris Taylor and Dickson Macdonald took the parts of the visitors Flora Cavan and Rev. Noel Cuthbertson. The second playiet, "Made to Measure," by R. L. Delderfield, which was produced by Katb Scott, was a liveliex eomedy set in the lounge of Mary Gunter's suburban home. Three months after Ecgar Gunters death his two sisters Brigid and Haiiriett, played respectively by Koa Sharp and Kath Scott, and his wife Mary by Yvonne Sharp, are still in deep mourning, but to the great consternation of the sistars Guy Rowden (Ron Brederbeck) carries Mary away, possibly tc another matrimonial venture, Kath Scott was very good in the character part of the dominating sister, Harriett. Yvonne and Koa Sharp portrayed their parts very well and Ron Brendenbeck showed good promise.
