TURANGI FOOTBALL
OLD BOYS V. TONGARIRO College Old Boys defeated Tongariro at Turangi on Sunday, June 28th., by 17 to 11. The winners are j mainly old boys of Te Aute College, I who played previously for the WaiI tahanui Club, their headquarters being at Te Puke Sawmills, near Te Rangi-ita. The Tongariro teanu is an amalgamation of teams from the Tokaanu area. The Old Boys score was made up of three tries^ one converted and two penalty goals. Tongariro seeured three tries, converting one. F ox Old Boys, Charlie Wall cut through for two tries, one from a scrum, the other from a line-out, while Kingi Girace, at centre, ! scored and converted in ihe first half. For Tongariro, Smallman and Tunui scored tries in the first half, of which Martin Downs conveated one. Halftime score was 11-8 in favour of Old i Boys. After the interval Rangi Biddle , kicked two penalties for Old Boys, and Tongariro obtained a third try. At the time of going to press arrangements had been made for a meeting of delegates from Taupo Unit.ed, Tongariro and College Old Boys to organise an inter-club competition.
