KITCHEN SHOWER FOR MISS JOY SMITH
Miss Joy Smith, who is to be married shortly, was the guest of hon-1 our at an afternoon held last week in Rickit's Hall, the hostesses being Miss E. Rickit, Mi's T. Gillies and Mrs J. E. Story. The hall was tastefully decorated with huge bowls of fern fronds and trailing greenery, and the table was a picture, featuring most elaborate lace cloths' and bowls of yrellow chPysanthemum, pink stock and violets. Mrs E. T. Smith, wearing a smart brown fitting coat and tiny hat to tone, and Miss Joy Smith, wearing a' tailored brown and cream checked coat and fawn wool jersey dress and brown accessories, were received by Mrs Story, who wore a black and grey suit with black velvet trim and small velvet hat. The two guests were each presented with lovely floral sprays made by Mrls A. Stott, while Mrs Story presented the bride-to-be with a bouquet of daphne. Following afternoon tea, Miss Smith, assisted by Mrs Story, opened the gift parcels, comprising a collection of useful kitchen utensils. Musical honours were accoPded the guests of honour, Mrs Stott being the accompanist, and Miss Smith, in a neat speech, thanked those present for their delightful gifts and good wishes. Mrs Smith also spoke, specially thanking the hostesses. Those present were Mesdames A. Stott, W. Anderson, E. Grey, A. Smith, Salt, Keating Smith, B. Armstrong, R. McMillan; Misses M. Smith, M. Rickit. Aplogies were received from Mesdames A. H. Reid and J. Schultze.
