RUGBY FOOTBALL

Taupo United Beat Waitahanui Ther,e was quite a fast open game at the Taupo Domain on Sunday June 21 when these two local teams met one another. On the whole the combination of the backs was fairly good, but there was a certain amount of mishandling*. Taupo opened up the game as often as possible and won by 21 points to 3. Brian Garlick, a new arrival in Taupo, was the outstanding back on the field and besides cutting through for three tries himself he also paved the way for two others scored by Len Erickson. Waitahanui's scor'e comprised one try. They were not as fit a team as their opponents and their understanding was not as good as last year.
