Meeting Of Committee A meeting of the Town Library Committee r'ecently appointed to administer the Town Board Library was held on Wednesday, June 3rd, Mr N, A. Duthie being in the chair, others present being Mesdames Duthie, Palmer, Thomas, T'uck and Shepherd, and Misses Eely, Fleury and Lehuray. The chairman read a letter from the Town Clerk advising of the Town Board's approval of the Committee' s recent I'ecommendations to operate as from June 1st. It was decided that the Committee members would meet at the Library on Friday, June 5th, at 4 p.m. and at 9 a.m, the following day to re-arrange the books in alphabetical order of authors. It was arranged that two members would attend the Librar'y at 4 p.m. each day to sort the returned books, as follows: Monday, Mrs Shepherd and Mrs Palmer; Tuesday, Misses Lehuray and Fleury; Wednesday, Mrs Tuck and Miss Eely; Thursday, Mr and Mrs Duthie; Friday, Mesdames Orr and Thomas.

After discussion it was decided to eontinue with an annual subscription of £1 1s, entitling the subscriber to borrow two books at a time, the subscription to be reduced by 1/9 per month for each complete month which had elapsed between April 1st and the date of becoming a subscriber. The matter of casual subscriptions was discussed and it was decided to make a flat charge of 2/6 per month or part of a month, entitling the subscriber to take two books at a time. The chairman stated that he had discussed these and other matters with Mr S. Torepe, the Town Clerk, who had been helpful and eo~ operative.

New Books It was decided to compile a complete record of books in alphabetical order of authoi's, such a record, to be on the card system. A subcommittee for the selection of new . books was set. up, consisting of Mrs Shepherd, Mrs Orr and Mr Duthie, with Mrs Orr as convener. It was tentatively decided to arrange for the purehase of oue hundred new books at the earliest opportunity, and thereafter ten books per month. The secretary was directed to obtain quotations and submit them to the committee. The secretary was also instructed to obtain particulars of the Country Library Service for the information of the Committee. It was also decided to forward copies of the minutes of the Committee's proceedings to the Town Board from time to time.
