BUSINESSMEN'S A SSOCI ATION LATE SHOPPING NIGHT At the 17th Committee Meeting of the Taupo Businessmeffis Association held recently the result of the ree«nt "Gallup Poll," on the day to be obj served as the weekly closing day- for shops, was discussed. The result was regarded as satisfactory, thanks to the co-operation of the public; As a result of the meeting, action is now being taken with regard to the swings in the Children^ Playing Ground. Preliminary details were worked out in connection with the proposed notice board to be erected by the Association in Tongariro Street, the matter now being left over to the next Quarterly General Meeting. It was considered that Taupo had now reached the stage of requiring a late shopping night, and in order to assist the public shop-keepers were being requested by the Committee to remain open on Saturday^ May 30, the evening prior to the long Coronation week-end. Later it was hoped to arrange a regular late shopping night, for the summer months at least. Coronation decorations were discussed, and it was hoped to have several of the business premises decorated in some small way. The next Quarterly General Meeting was set down for June 9th.
