SEASON 'S END

The season ends, AlFs quiet at Hatepe Mouth. My aijgling friends Have homeward gone to North and South. Ihe waves roll in, Urged by a cold south western breeze, Their ceaseless din An edho from far coastal seas. The stream flows on, No fishermen around its bends, All, ali have gone, And thus the season ends. Poplars are bare, And autumn's yellow leaves descend In beauty rare*

And for the trees 'tis season'sx end. fhe houses close. No smoke from cosy fire ascends, Where anglers doze Or sit with broken gear to mend. When sun sets gold. A time in solemn thought I spend. As I grow old, Perchance the season soon will end. God bless you, friends, Bless all your merry kin ! And, sure, as winter ends, The season will begin.
