Public Nofrices i Notice to Make Returns of Income Under the Land and Income Tax Act, 1923, and Amendments Notic.e is hereby given that returns of income for the year ended 31st. March, 1953, are required from: — (a) All companies, all persons in business (including farming), and all trustees, executors, and administrators, irirespective of whether a profit cfr a loss has been made; and (b) All other persons who derived, during ihe year, income from salary, wages, interest, irent, annuity, dividend or other sources, where the total income so derived .exceeded £300. Sueh returns aire required to be delivered or forwarded to the district office of the Taxes Division, Inland Revenue Department where the taxpayen^s records are filed —

Not later than 7 July 1953, where returns are for a year ended on any ' day falling in the period 1st. October, 1952 to May 1953, inclusive; and Within two nionths of balanc.e date where returns are for a year endmg" on any day falling in the period 8th. May to 30th. Septembav>, 1953, inclusive. The forms for making returns of income for Income Tax purposes and declarations of income other than salary or wages for Social Security Charge purposes have, except in the case of companies, been combined. Persons required to furnish a return j of income automatically furnish a declaration of income other than salary or wages by fumishing th.e combined return and declaration form. A declaration of income other than salary or wages must be furnish ed on a separate u£300 and Under Form" by every person in receipt of income other than salary or wages not required to furnish a return oi income.

Social Security charge is payable, in one sum or in equal instalments due on June 1st. and 1st. November, 1953. A penalty of 10 per cent accrues on the amount of eaeri instalment unpaid after 7th. July and 7th. December 1953, as the case may be. The initial / «/ payment must accompany the form on which the declaration of income. other than salary or wages is made, i.e. the combined return and declaration form, the "£300 and under Form" or the "Provisional Declaration" (see below), whichever is appropriate. Payment may be made, direct or by mail, at any office of the Taxes Division, Inland i Revenue Department or at any Money : Order Post Office. Speeial provision has been made for persons whose income is prineipally or exclusively income other than sal- i | ary cir wages who have found it not ) practicable to prepare by 7th. July, 19^3 such accounts as may be neeessary to show the income derived during the year ended 31st. March 1953

R. 5B) is completed and payment of the June 1953 instalment of social security charge is made not later than 7th.
