TAUPO-WELLINGTON WEDDING

SVENS'EN -FLEMING At St. John's Anglican Church, Trentham, on Saturday, April 18, ihe marriage was solemnised by Canon W. M. Smallfxeld of Janet, daughter of Mr and Mrs A. M. Fleming, Wellington, and Mervyn, son of Mr and Mrs M. B. Svensen, Taupo. The bride, w.ho was escorted up the aisle by her father, looked charming in a bouffant froek of Frencb nylon net mounted on blush pink slipper satin. Her hand-made veil was tiered to the waist and held in place by tiny ruffles of iace caught on eaeh side of her head by clusters of orange blossom. Her matron-of-honour, Mrs Earle Glenn, wore an unusual picture froek of blush pink Swiss watered faille and a tiny head-dress fashioned of the same material.

Mr Trevor Svensen, of Christchurch, was best man and ushers at the church were Mr Jack Fleming, twin brother of the bride, and Dr Earle Glenn. The reception was held at the beautiful garden home of Mr and Mrs K. E. Luke, Silverstream, and the guests were received by the parents of the bride and bridegroom. Mrs Fleming was gowned in a model froek of light navy wool georgette with iced lime hat and wore flowers of the- same colouring and light navy accessories. Mrs Svensen wore a burgundy ensemble with grey accessories. Mrs Luke's froek was of wine coloured faille with hat to tone. The reception rooms were gay with massed vases of autumn flowers and coloured foliage from Mr Luke's garden which, with its lovely autumn tinted. trees lent itself to the occasion. For travelling the bride wore a mist blue outfit with hat to tone and black accessories. Amongst the guests were Mr and Mrs K. E. Luke and Miss Vivienne Luke, The Hon. C, M. Bowden, Dr and Mrs Claude Taylor, Mr and Mrs W. 0. Gibb, Miss Taine, Christchurch, and Miss Norah Phillips, Mrs W. H. V. Taine, Auckland, Mrs T. E. Roberts, Paraparaumu, Miss K. Mackersey, Mrs Doak, Hastings, Mrs Millsom and Mrs Smith, Auckland, Mr and Mrs R. Svensen, Wairoa. The bride is a. great-grand-daught-er of the late Mr and Mrs J. J. Taine, who were married at St. PauPs Pro« cathedral, Wellington, in Mareh 1840.
