POPPY DAY APPEAL

RECORD SALES MADE As a result of the hard work of a band of ladies under the leadership of Mrs J. D. Swan and with the willing co-operation of the Taupo business people and the equally willing response of the public the sale of poppies for the relief of ex-servicemen and dependents, which took place on Saturdiay last, resulted in a record amount being raised. The exact total at t'he time of going to press is not known, as returns fiom a number of points had not come to hand, but the amount realised in the town itself was £53 4/6. The ladies who under took the aiduous job of street saies, commencing at 8 a.m., were Mrs J. D. Swan, Mrs Stott, Mrs H. Thomas, Mrs J. Sherwood, Mrs Leyland, Mrs Hui] ten, Misses Branson, McKelvie, to wh'orn, and to the shopkeepers, the R.S.A. President and Executive wish to express their gratitude, as well as to the public for their response to the appeal.
