I Girl Guide Jigsaw. — Mrs H. Peart, captain of the Taupo Girl Guides Company, advises that word has been received that the jigsaw puzzle which has been made by Guides in New Zealand, for presentation to Prince Charles and Princess Anne, is to be handed to the Taupo Company and that two> members of the Company will go to Rotorua to receive it. From Taupo it will be handed on to members of another Guide unit who will come to Taupo to receive it. New Fly-tying Material. — Trout flys tied with a material known as fluorescent nylon are reported to be meeting with appreciation from anglers using them on the Tongariro Riv'er and other waters at the south1 end of the Lake. The colours of the flies made up for the new material are quite markedly brighter than those of the older type silks, and do not appear to lose their lustre from immersion in the water. They have been used with considerable success at night as well as in daylight. ic Steam Bore at Tokaanu. — A steam bore put dowm some years ago at Tokaanu, at the foot of the hill slopes behind the mineral bath and hot spring area near the township, came to life last week and has since been emitting steam with the eonstant roar that characteiises the geothermal bores at Wairakei. Whether the bore was shut down by the Department, or merely became blocked, is not clear from reports to hand. The steam column from the bore may be seen and heard from the road near the Post Office.
