INSTITUTE GARDENING CIRCLE

The Taupo Women's Institute Gardening Circle met at Riekit's Hall on ednesday last, when fourteen memers were present. Mrs Osborne read a short paper on sweet corn. The guest for the afternoon was Mrs Goldstone, who is at present at her Taupo residence, & who demonstrated three bowls of flowers. One was of bronze chrysanthemums arranged for frontal effect, and two for all round effect, one oi African marigolds and chrysanthemums, with seed pods and heads, and the other of mauve dahlias and chrysanthemums. All were very beautiful. Mrs Goldstone explained the uses of seed pods and heads for filling* in when howers were scarce, and showed a beautiful floral arrangement of tiny mauve fiowers on a dark pearl shell which was much admired. Mrs King •thanked Mrs Goldstone on behalf of members.
