The first real fall of snow appeared on the summit range of the Kaimanawas, southeast of the Lake, on Saturday morning, following stormy weather the previous night. There was a good covering also on the Nationai Park mountai.ns, andi more fell there on Saturday night. An Apology. An advertisement of the Radio Service Company in our last issue contained an unfortunate error which spoilt the whole advertisement. The reference in the headline to the Radio "Morse," should, of eoUirse, have read, the Radio "Nurse." The advertisement appears again in this issue. iAr Exemption from Awards. — It wil! be noted from our advertising columns that a number of Taupo business men are applying in the Magistrates Court for exemption from the provisions of certain awards governing their businesses. The position is that these awards do not provide for the position existing in Taupo, where Saturday is not the ciosing day for shops as in many other towns. A number of other businesses in Taupo have already obtained the necessary exemption to allow for the shops being open on Saturday, and the business men referred to are now taking the necessary steps to obtam the same formal exemption. ★
Annual Fishing Conference. — The Annual Wild Life Conference of the current season has been tentatively set down for May 14th. 9 subject to this date being suitable to the organisation concerned. This will be the fourth of these conferences, at which executive officers of the Wild Life Division of the Department of Internal Affairs meet in conference with delegates from fishing and shooting organisations of the Taupo Fisheries District. The inauguration of this annual gathering has provided an opportunity for initerchange of views between the various cIi^ds and societies, and the Bepartmental Officers, and the meetings have been marked by frank, in- . formal and interesting discussions. The Conference this year is to be held at Turangi. Taupo Marching Girls. — " The Crusaders Marching Girls tearn, of Taupo visited Hamilton on Easter Monday and took part in the street parade and ihe marching competitions held as part oi the St. John Ambulance Carnival there. Owing to the bad weather the marching competitions were held in the Rledisloe Hall and seventeen teams took part. The Taupo girls eame second in the Costume Judging. and one of their number, Miss- Ruth Anchor, won the judges' award, and received the sash, as Miss Easter Parade. The Taupo Crusaders will be seen on Saturday next, April 18th., in the Marching Display at laupo announced in our advertising columns.
