SCOUTS' HUT OPENED
TAUPO TROOPS EFFORT There was a big attendance of patents and others interested at the Spa Farm on Sun day aftemoon, 15th., to tnark the opening of the headq-uart-er?s hut reeently completed by t!heTaupo Boy Seouts under Scoutmaster W. Harding. The hut is situated in an ideal spot on the northern edge of a plantation oi. blue-gums, The prcceedings commenced with an inspection of the troop by Mr J. R. Cooksey, late Doniinion Commissionei', and Mr J. Thomas, District Commissioner. Mr Cooksey then addressed the gathering stressing the idea.ls of the Boy Scout Movement, and its great value in assisting boys to deyelop mto good citizens. He | oongratulated the boys and Scoutmaster Harding on their effort in building the hut, which he declared officially open. Mr J. Thomas, District Commissioner, also spokPp',.',fe^ j commented on the pleasing present to show their interest'.in the bc,ys5 work. After Mr J. Story, Chairman of the Town Board, and Mr C. Thomas, Chairman of the local Boy Scout Association, had spoken briefly, afternoon tea was served, following which the visitors were able to inspect the hut and the boys,r ca-mp. Among those present was the Taupo Girl Guide C-ompany, under Capt. Peart.
