Power for Paper Mills at Kinleith

Though dwarfed by the massive buildings near by, good progress is being made with the construetion of the State Hyldro-Electric Departrnent's substation at Kinleith to supply power to N.Z. Forest Products' 1 kraft pulp and paper \ mills. Power will be fed to the substation from the North Island grid system over a new line from Lichfield at 110,000 volts. It will then be transformed down to 11,000 volts and distributed by the Thames Valley Electric Power Board to the company's pulp, paper and sawmills at Kinleith and to other consumers. A line 51 miles long is being built from the Kinleith substation to sup~ ply ihe company's pumping station on the Pokai whenua Stream. Houses for the operating staff will also be built. adjacent to the main building. The capacity of the substation will be 10,000 kVA with provision for an increase to 20,000 kVA. — — —
