MEETING OF COMMITTEE j At the Committee Meeting of the j Taupo Businessmen's Association on March 9th. it was deeided to try to impuove ihe method of suspending swings in the Play Area, the Association to bear the expense. Following a deputation to the Town Board and recent correspondence it was hoped to have a more satisfactory method of rubbish removal inauguraied in the town area. It was deeided that a telegram of protest be sent to the Prime Minister concernr ing the grahting to the Newr Zealand Road Services of a time-table over the Putaruru-Taupo route in competition with a long established and efficient privateiy owned service. Other matters discussed included the necessity for impfovement to the Terraces Hill road, and the urgent need for the availability of information, and advice for tourists and visitors. The next quarterly General Meeting of the Association was arranged for Monday March 23rd., when a full agenda will be put before members. Telegram from Prime Minister. .Foilowing the protest to the Prime Minister re the Putaruru-Taupo bus service referred to in Ihe foregoing report ^the Siecretary reeeived the foilowing telegram from the Prime Minister: — "In repiy to your telegram I have to advise that the dicense you refer to was granted by the apprcpriate Transport Licensing Authority which is quite outside Government control as is the Appeal Authority wlio is a Judge and who considered an appeal against the issue of the license stop. However the whcle matter is under review by a Cabinet Committee at the present time in an effort to find some way of assisting the case to which I think your representations refer. — S. G. Holland."
