Rainfall at Taupo. — Rainfall for the week ending February 20th. was incorrectly given in our issue of February 25th. as 3.6 inches, the correct figures being .36 inch. For the week ending February 13th. the rainfall was 2.86 inches, not 4.53 inches as stated in our issue of February 18th. The total rainfall for the month up to February 27th. was 3.22 inches. ★ The Biggest Got Away.* — Among severai big fish that were not caught at Acacia Bay reeently was one the size of which may be verified by any angler who is lucky enough to catch it. This taniwha among trout got away not only with fly and cast, but with a new double tapered line and backing as well. We understand that any angler takink this runaway rainbow (or bolting brown, as the case may be) may gladly keep the accompanying gear. ★ Cambridge Power Charges. — The rising costs of electric power are reflected in the new scale fixed last. week by the Cambridge Power Board. The Waikato Independent of February 27th. reports that the increases to consumers vary from 25 per cent. to 40 per cent. according to the particular use, and that the average increase over the whole is about thirty-three and a third per cent. Town Board Staff. — The Works Committee report presented at the last monthly meeting of the Town Board mentioned that the outside staff consisted oif thq Motor Camp caretaker, grader driver, and two men employed on general maintenance. The third man was at present on sick leave, and the two labourers were kept busy on maintenance and stormwater repairs.
