MANY PAY LAST TRIBUTE

Funeral of Mr J. R. Reid | Some two hundred mourners gathered at the Taupo Cemetery on Monday afternoon last week to pay their final tribute to the late Mr Joseph Reid. Prior to the funeral a service on the lawn at the home of Mr and Mrs G. Reid, deceasedls parents, was conducted by the Rev., Te K. Paenga and the Rev. W. T. F, Skey, L.Th., who also officiated at the graveside. The coffin was draped with beautiful korowai and kiwi mats. There was a full attendance of members of the local Bimalo Lodge, whose hnal service followed the Church service at the graveside. Among visitors from Rotorua were Mrs Rangitira Dennan (Guide Rangi) and Mr Kepa Ehau. A traditional waiata of larnent was chanted by Mr Ehau. The large attendance, fully representative of all sections of Ihe .people of the Taupo Country, was a tribute to one who had been a popular figure in the community.
