INTOXICATED DRIVER FINBD £15 In the .Taupo Magistrates CJo-urt on Friday, February 20th.* before Messrs A. H. Reid and V/. H. Kent. Justices of the Peace, George Negginson Howard, 'sheep farmer, of Te Kuiti, was charged with being Intoxicated while in charge of a car. Accused entered a written plea oi guilty through his solicitor, Mr K. Low, of Te Kuiti. Constable E. II. Rowlands said accused was arrested in Tongariro Street, Taupo, at 10. 30 a.ni. on February 10th. He was under the influence of liciuor and Was- not in a fit state to be in charge of a car. Accused had stated that he had left Te Kuiti the previous evening and drive n through the night to Taupo with two friends. They had consumed one dozen bottles oi beer during the journey. Accused was fined £15 and his driving li.cense was suspended for twelve months. Insufficient Means of Support. •On Thursday, February 26th., beiort Messrs V. T. Fail and A. Ti. Reid, Justices of the Peace, John Eric 'C laments, 50, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty to a charge of being a rogue and a vagabond (insufficient means of support). Constable E. II . Rowlands prosecuting, said he arrested accused at Waitahanui on Wednesday February 25th. Evidence was given that accused had been out of work ior five weeks and uras iinposing on a family at . Waitahanui. He had no money when arrested and no work, was in a filthy and unkept condition and had slept out during the past two nights. He was convicted and sentenced to two months hard labour. Allan Alexander Croft, 42, ; of no tixed abode, pleaded guilty to being icBe and Jjsorderly. He was arrested by Constable W. D. Mills Oi), r ebruary 25th., and had no money and no job to g'o to and was in a filthy condition. He had been sleeping in an unused hut and for the past week had been imposing on men at the M.O.W Camp for food. He was covieted and sentenced to one months hard labour.
