COMING-OF-AGE PARTY
MISS AUDREY HOLDEN To celebrate the coming-of-age of their second daughter, Audrey Theresa, Mr and Mrs Gawen Holden of uBen Nevis," Dannevirke, and Taupo, entertained guests at Rickit's ITall, Taupo on Saturday, February 7th. for the occasion. The hall had been tastefully decorated with greenery and the stage gaily decked with flowers. A large placard "Welcome home, Mother" took pride of place in the centre of the stage, Mrs Holden having reached Taupo in the earlv hours of that morning after a trip by air from India. 1 The guest of honour was a radiant figure in billowing layers of champagne iGeorgette, forming a harem skirt under a cream and champagne apron front, which was cut in one with a halter-neck moulded bodice. A spray of Crimson and gold roses at the baek waist line completed a very beautiful -gown. Miss Holden al,so v ore a beautiful diamond and ruby ring with bracelets to match, gifts from her mother who had brought them from India. Mrs
Holden r.eceived the guests wearirig an emerald green, French chiffon saric Mr Ted Payton as toastmaster conveyed the good wishes of those present in a brief speech, to which the guest of honour replied. Musical honours were accorded her, the cake was cut and supper was served. The tables in the supper room wrere gay with flow^ers, and the main items of the repast were foods frcm a haangl { ooked by Mr and Mrs Stan Crow ihcr, who were also responsible for the deeorating of the hall itsolf ). Roasted fowl, geese, lamb etc., were delightfully garnished with lettuce and tomato and accompanied by roast potatoes and savouries. Extras were played by Mrs Liddington and Mr Phii Wadley and items given by Mrs Flego, Mr A. Lewis, Mr Gordon Frazer and Mr J. O'Toole. Guests to Taupo for the function were: — Mrs Zelda Holden (Tauranga), eldest daughter oi Mr and Mrs Holden; Mr and Mrs L. Cotton (Dannevirke); Mrs Brown and mother (Dannevirke); Mrs Liddington, Mr P. Wadley, and Mr Ailan , Young (Hamilton). At the conclusion of the party Mr Frazer, on behalf of those present, expressed appreciation of the generous hospitality enjoyed by all. ★
PERSON AL ITEMS Mr and Mrs R. H. Lepine expect to be in residence at their Taupo house, Hinekura Avenue, for several weeks as from February 19th. ★ Miss Katherine Scottj Post Office staff, is at present in Wellington attending the Departmental schoo.1 for the purpose of training in the use of the Creed teleprinter. ★ Mrs George Beale has been spending a week in Wellington with Mr and Mrs Lindsay Arlow, Midland Hotel. iz Mr and Mrs L. Stephenson and Mr and Mrs K. E. Young spent several days last week at Whanganui, Western Bay. Despite some unfavourable weather a number of good fisb were taken on the fly. Mr T. W. Curham, of the District High School staff, is at present in canip at Tihoi with the First Battalion, Auckland Regiment (Countess of Ranfurly 5s Own). Mr Gerard Ward is also in camp with the 1st.
