TURANGI-TOKAANU ANGLING
A 16LB. BROWN TROUT (Correspondent) — Feb. 6th., 1953. A very imarked improvement has been shown at the Delta during the last few days and several limit bags have been taken. In one case of limits taken by two rods the best fish weighed six pounds though only twentythree inehes in length, giving a near-50 condition factor. The twelve fish averaged five pounds. The Lura'teau is not yet up to forrn but a genera.1 improvement has been noted at the stream and river mouths, particularly from dusk onward. The Tongariro yielded a beautiful brown of 161bs. opposite th€ Hut Pool. Though no real run has taken place many more fish can be seen under the Bridge and Major Jones' Pool ha,s produced; fish. The Duchess Pool is reported as improving and a few good fish have been taken at the junetion with the Poutu below the Dreadnaught. The Waimarino continues to fish well, particularly after dark. Trolling as may be expected has fallen off.
