"Having a rummage sale?" he enquired, The answer came as a shoeking revelation of sheer wasteful indifference to mislaid sehool coats, ete., j on the part of parents. "I imagine," said Mr Osborne, "that there is about | £60 worth of clothing in that heap. I These coats have been left about the school during the year, and have never been claimed. I have spoken to the children, sent out eirculars to parents, and now, on breaking-up day, this is what I have on my hands." He picked up a giiTs navy-blue serge coat. "Look at this — a practically new coat!" It was sad to reilect upon sucli waste in New Zealand when one recalled the picture of ill-fed, ill-clad children in Europe.
