HOLIDAY VISITORS ARRIVING HATEPE, December 19th

Hatepe at present; is the scene of much activity, as Christmas approaches. Baches of varying sizes are being erected, and holiday visitors are already appearing, aithough the peak period will not be reached until after Christmas Day. During the month, week-end, day and longer-period visitors have included: — Dr and Mrs Gunn, Senr., of Gisborne; Mrs Dean, Mr G. Gooding and family, Mr J. Ladd and family, Mr and Mrs Reiger and family, of Palmerston North; Mr and Mrs W. Long, and Mrs Foster and children, Levin; Mr and Mrs H. Davis, Taihape, Mr and Mrs Bridson and family, Te Aroha, Mr W. Perry and party, Masterton, Mr D. Cooper (in residence), Mr and Mrs D. Allan, Auckland; Mr. and Mrs J. Tietjens, Takapuna, Mrs H. Burley and children, of Brighton, Dunedin, Admiral Hickling and cousin, Napier, Mrs Corbett, Turangi, Mr and Mrs Barr, Whakatane. , Mr F. Wyatt and family have purehased a home at Rotorua but retain the:r interests at Hatepe. Miss Haromi and Rereahu Morehu have returned from Hukatere College, Napier, the latter being head of her form, taking firsts in Scriptine, Home-craft, Art, Human Biology, Science and Second piaces in Arithmetic, Red Cross apd Social Studies, Form IV A. The New Motor Camp A festive atmosphere pervades the eastern side of the lake. The new motor camp is already filling with tents and caravans. A long needed want has been supplied, and neat conveniences will make this attractlve soot more desirable. Fishing Improving Fishing from the boat has been very good, notwithstanding the rough weather. The river is returning to normal after the incessant rain and discolouration through hydro works higher up and more fish are being eaught at the mouth of the stream.
