TAUPO SCHOOLS
On Wednesday, December 10th» 1952, teachers and' children from the Otukou, Tauranga-Taupo, Waitahanui, Oruanui, Mokai, Maroa and Taupo Scho'ols gathered together at the Taupo Sports Grouhds for their Annual Tabloid Sports Day. The day began well at half-past ten with a light breez.e and sunshine. Twentyeight teams of twelve to iifteen niembers topk part in the morning's programme of tabloid events, this being: wop by the Waitahanui Maori SchoQl. T'he af terhoon ♦ programme begari with a Grand March T^ast to£ all -the, .schoplsTr-folIowed by the Marching Competition in which ten , members from each school took part« Mr Swan kindly acted as judge and awarded the Tauranga-Taupo Maori School winners oi the Marching Gup. The Relay* Events were next on ihe programme and in these the Taupo District High School headed the list with seven points; The day ended with Maori Action Songs and Hakas with only five schools participating, ^ Tauranga-Taupo, Mokai, Waitahanui, Oruanui and Taupo. The Maori items were for entertainment only and Were thoroughly enjoyed by all present.
