A truck belonging to the Tapper Construction Company engaged at the Taupo Hydro-Electricity works at Hatepe ran into a mare and f oal on the road during thick weather. As a result of the impact the foal was killed, and the mare so badly injured that it had to be destroyed. The driver of the truck escaped uninjured, but the radiator was badly knocked about, necessitating repiacement. *
At the last meeting of the Taupo Town Board consideration was given to the application of Mr G. Wr. Boot, dentist for a site for his dental caravan. He had asked for a particular site, but as in the interim part of the Domain had been assigned for the use of children as a play area, the Board offered a site on another part of the Domain. To this Mr Boot was unable to agree, as in his opinion it was not convenient for his practice. ★ The meeting of the Tuwharetoa Lawn ^ennis Sub - Association to have been held on Sunday, November 9th. at Mr T. Wjlliams residence, Oruanui, lapsed for want of a quorum. Owing to unsettled weather conditions matters have been more or less in obeyance. No decision has yet been made with regard to another meeting.
