TAUPO TENNIS CLUB
SOCIAL AND MATCHES The Taupo Tennis Club which has got away to a good start this year held its first social evening on November 15th. All the club members present helped to make the evening a success. Thanks are due to Mrs Mika and Mr Rogers for the excellent music that they provided. Clear blue skies welcomed Mokai when they visited Taupo for a friendly match during the weekend. Some good tennis was played and keenness; which has been lacking among the club-members because of the erratic weather conditions, was once more aroused. The results of the matches are as follows: — (Taupo names first.) Women's doubles: S. George and W. Hurae v. G. Te Ao and P. Martin — 3-6. M. Scott and K. Scott v. C. Rewa and M. Te Hiko — 3-6. B. The rain put an > abrupt ending to tlie louriioment so that Mokai won the day with 11 games to 5. During his speech Mr Hodge, the captain. of the Mokai tearn rnentioned that inter-club matches should be arranged as soon as. possible. As a result Mr Bakei will be representing the Taupo Tennis Club at an asscciation meeting to be held shortly. A triple-tournament will be held in Mokai on December 7th., in which Oruanui, Mokai and Taupo will take part. As rnany members as possible are encouraged to attend. Those interested are asked to hand in their names to the club captain, Mr Doug. Baker, who has also been elected president and also to the secretary, Miss B. Walters. At the last meeting, Mrs Rev/a was elected Women's Captain. Club championships will commence during the next few weeks. Thanks are due to Mr Haines for his donation. of £1.
