CRICKET IN TAUPO
OPENING MATCH OF THE SFASON Taupo openecl the season disastrously when Reporoa came to Taupo for the first match. The wicket was in good condition but with the ground verv wet under the matting, the ball came through at varying heights. The visitors opened confidently and were unlucky to fose Symes early. A eollapse foltowed and only Vernon and Mulloy jffered any resistance. The side was all out for 55 and Taupo was left with an apparently easy task to pass the visitors total. However, Symes and Vernon bowl ed well and collected the first six Taupo wickets in twenty minutes with the total only 10 . Rickit and Marett made stands with Flinton who remained at the crease for half an hour for one run. As the Reporoa team wished to get home for milking the garne ehded at this stage, 90 minutes before the pr© arranged time for drawing stumps Scores: — Reporoa 1st. innings: Lewis, c Forster, b S.
