TAUPO GIRL GUIDES
The Taupo Girl Guides First Company and their three officers conducted a street stall to raise funds for ecmpany management, ibut on account of the indifferent weather, part of the business had to be conducted in Rickit's Hall. The girls rolled up in fine style, and all were very busy from 8.30 in the mornihg getting* ready for a very active day. GoOds were handed in liberally; also Cash .donations, and for all the good things the Guides return thanks. to all concerned. The big feature of the day was the "Copper Trail," and the girls had a lot of fun gathering in their pennies. The total nearly reached one thousanci. All the good things on the stall were sold out early, and the girls were compelled througn lack of stock to c cse down early. AThough they were very tired, they stayed to hear the result of the day, which the officers totalled up for them. This reached the very satisfactory total of £35. A few of the clothing articles were packed up in boxes and handed over to the Women's Institute as a donat.ion from the giils for their Rummage Sale shortly. Officers and girls would like to thank the public of Taupo for their very generous support in helping guiding to progress so satisfactorily, The following are the results of the compeHtions: — Box of home made sweets, Mr M. Misden; box of fruit, etc., Mr J Holmes; mystery parcel, Mr J. Woodward; Christmas cake, Mrs T. Neilson. Scouts Dixon, Baker and Isaacs carried the thanks of the girls for their assistance in erecting the tables. The Guides are now in the final stages of preparation and rehearsal for their coming concert. The wardrobe mistress (Lieut. Spooks) is busy with creations for the frocking. The Company Captain (Mrs Peart), expects to be able to pay a visit to Te Awamutu accompanied i by four of the Guides, in order to . witness a musical recital to be giv-
en by the Te Awamutu Girl Guides. The impressions gained should be of benefit to the local girls. At a reeent meeting of the local :ompany opportunity was taken to mark the birthday anniversary of the Captain with the gift of a cake and a butter-dish. Mrs Peart, who was taken by surprise, made an appropriate acknowledgement of this gesture of goodwill on the part of the Company.
