TAUPO HOME AND SCHOOL AS5SOCIATION VISIT TO WAIPAHIHI The Taupo Home and School Association held its monthly social meeting at the Waipahihi Pa on Wednesday last with the object of creating interest among the Maori people in the activities of the association. There was a good attendance of both Maori and Pakeha parents, who were entertained with a particularly good programme of action songs, and vocal items by a choir of Maori scholars. In addition adult entertainers put on an impromptu performance of canoe songs. After supper, dispensed by the hosts, the evening concluded with the singing of "Now is the Hour," in Maori. ☆ WEDDING CEREMONY AT WAIHI St. Jame's Presbyterian Church, Waihi, was the setting for a very pretty ceremony when Ruby Anne, second daughter of Mr and Mrs K. Ti Bargh, Waihi, and James Gil[bert, only son of Mr and Mrs E. J. Arnold, Taupo, were married. The bride, who was given away by her father, looked charmingf in a frock of white lace and Georgette with 1 length hand embroidered heirloom veil. Her bouquet was white rose buds and gladioli. The bride's sister, Mrs Charles Boyd-Bell, was matron of honour with Miss Muriel Gow, of Hamilton, bridesmaid, and Isobel Boyd-Bell f lower girl. A-ll wore frocks of pale pink lace and net and carried bouquets of delphiniums and carnations. Mr Jack McLeod, of Taupo, and Mr Ken Bargh, brother of the bride, were best man and groomsman respectively. For the present . the young people will make their home in Blenheim. ☆

ST. ANDREW'S LADIES' GUILD SUCCESSFUL "BRING & BUY,> A highly satisfactoiry result rewarded the efforts of St. Andrew's Ladies Guld with their "bring and buy at Rickit's Hall on Saturday, November 15. There was a goodly stock of articles and commodities in vaiiety and quality and buying was brisk. A total clearance being effected by the end of the day. The taking totalled £125 2s 6d. The raffles resulted: Biscuits, Miss J. Branson; picture, Baby McNicholas; Christmas dinner, Miss Sue Colbeck; cardigan, Mr Ted Meade; baby set, Mrs Booth. Miss Marjorie Stowe guessed correctly the name of Irene of the doll which was awarded to her as a prize. ☆ ■ The Hon. Secretary of the Taupo Boy Scouts Association (Mrs Peart), has been compelled regretfully, to resign her office on account of pressure of other duties. ★ 'Miss C. Barlass, D|istrfct Nurse at Taupo, is about to take up a similai position at Picton, and will leave for the Sounds shortly. Her successor is Miss T. N. McMillan. Ar Mir and Mrs Gordon MacDonnell, of National Park, spent the recent week-end with Mrs M. C. MacDonaeel, of Tararepa Road, Taupo.
