"BEAUTY AND THE BEAST"
Fairy Tale Stage Fantasy According to reports from other centires the stage version of Hans Andersen's fairy tale, "Beauty and the Beast," to be presented by the Community Arts Service Company in Taupo 011 Wednesday next, November 19, has given delight to something like 8000 children in the Auckland Province. Although the play has been specially adapted for juveni!e audiences it is, like aPeter Pan/' equally enjoyable by adults. In Hamilton last week some 200 school children saw the production. The standard of acting and the general quality of the stage setting and effeets has been favourably commented upon. Taupo patrons in the meantime might r'^resh their memories by re-reading the story in the original text as a preparation for the fuller enjoyment of the performance. The producer will be Margaret Simmons; stage manager, Kenneth Ling; and the musical director, Roderick Horn, with the following artists in the cast: Barry Lineffam, Thomas Kneebone, Kenneth Akerman, Noeline Pritchard, Cecily Salmon, Eleanor Eliot, and Ray Donaldson.
