ACCIDENTS

Severe burns to face and hands were suffered last week by Mi George Ratana, an employee of the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research, as the result of in-f contiously pouring some methylated spirit from a tin into the hole in the top of a thermette. His injuries were so serious that he was taken to the Rotorua Hospital by the St. John Ambulance, Taupo, for treatment. Whilst alone in his bush camp near Poronui Station, Mr Ben Perry fell from the chassis of his truck recently and broke his leg between the Knee and the hip. Painfully tying li is two legs together ' Mr Perry n*.ani" ged to drag nimself io h*s own ' ai and drove to the homestead for aid. The ambulance went out and took him into Rotorua Hospital where he is said to be doing well. Medical reports state that the breal^ is a clean one which should mend satisfactorily.
