TAUPO GIRL GUIDES
MARCHING TEAM IN GOOD SHAPE The Arohanui team of the Taupo Marchjng Girls is in good shape for participation in competitions at Rotorua on November 29th. At a Committee meeting held at the residence of Mrs Peart on Wednesday, October 29th it was decided that as the team had now been registered they would be duly entered for the competitions. By courtesy of many friends private cars have been made available for transport for the team, which will be accompanied by Mrs L. Erickson (instructress), Mrs Peart (ehaperon), and Mrs Snooks (manager). The girls will participate in the street march and the maze, and are looking forward with keen interest to the experience. They will be well equipped for the occasion. The "Bring and Buy" stall on 'Saturday, November 8th. will be opened for business at 9 a.m. on the Main Street oueside the Post Office. It will be run by the local Girl Guides, and it is hoped to have on sale clothing, useful articles made by the girls, home-made cakes and sweets, and a variety of odds and ends. There will also be a copper trail, so the supporters are asked to save their pennies, and also to pay an early visit to the stall when setting out on their shoppings. This will be the Guides first street appeal, and as they can obtain two permits only per annum, they -hope that they will be well supported this ccming Saturday. On Saturday last the captain and girls canvassed the district and were most successful in obtaining promises Qf goods and cash donations. The Girl Guides concert preparations are well in hand, and with the frocking no being made for the 30 participants, they should make a very pretty showing on the platform.
