TRIBAL COMMITTEE CONCERNED Last week a Maori woman was commited on a charge of being intoxicated in a public place and was fined 10/- iby the Justices Court (Mr A. H. Reid presiding). The Tribal Committee and the "Welfare Officer desire it to be made known that they are concerned at the evidence of over-indulgence in liquor by women of the Maori Race, and welcome the co-operation of the public in upplying measures of restraint, as in the case above reported. Inu this statement the Tribal Committee displays a proper sense of responsibility for the welfare of the Maori people, and it is hoped that it§ view will be taken seriously.
