GAOL FOR INTOXICATED DRIVER
Trucks Collide In Taupo A head-on. collision on the Lake Front Road about 7.30 p.m. on Saturday, Oetober 18, resulted in extensive damage to two trucks. The driver of one sustained a broken elbow and two others sustained bruises and cuts. Constables E. H. Bowlands and D. Mills came on the scene and arrested one of the drivers, Gecil Alfred Fulton, aged 39, on a charge of being intoxicated in charge of a motor vehicle. Iii subsequent proceedings at a sitting of the Justices> Gourt on Monday, Oetober 20th (Messrs V. T. Fail and R. H. Ward on the Bench), Constable Rowlands stated that Fulton's truck was being driven along the Lake Front Road about a mile from Taupo. Going north the truck collided with another truck coming in the opposite direetion. Fulton was in a condition of intoxication rendering him unfit to drive. The Bench took a serious view of the charge, and in view of a previous warning given in a recent case of intoxication while in charge of a motor Vehicle, and in convicting, sentenced the accused to seven days' imprisonment, with cancellation of licence for 12 months.
